Piano Recital – Janusz Piotrowicz

Internationally acclaimed pianist and conductor Janusz Piotrowicz, founder of the Orchestra of the World and the Ripon International Festival, brings his artistry to the beautifully atmospheric setting of the Francis Thompson Room at Ushaw.

After winning the Nawrocki Prize at the 1975 Warsaw International Chopin Competition, he launched an international career of up to 300 performances a year, often presenting epic programmes such as the complete Beethoven Sonatas and Concertos and major Chopin cycles. In 1994, he performed before 5,000 at the Chopin Memorial in Warsaw on the 50th anniversary of the Uprising.

He is founder and conductor of the Orchestra of the World (L’Orchestre du Monde), directing landmark concerts at the Royal Albert Hall and with leading UK orchestras, including complete Beethoven symphony cycles.
