Lindisfarne Ushaw Lecture 2026: Bede and the Theory of Everything
We are delighted to welcome Michelle Brown as our guest lecturer on Monday 19 October. Drawing on our rich history of the church in the North East, renowned author Michelle Brown explores Bede’s approach to Christian scholarship and understanding – his ‘theory of everything’.
Michelle Brown FSA is Professor Emerita of Medieval Manuscript Studies, SAS, University of London and a Visiting Professor at University College London. She is an Honorary Lay Canon of Truro Cathedral and a Lay Worship Leader in the Parish of the Upper Skerne, Co. Durham. She was formerly Curator of Medieval Manuscripts at the British Library and a Lay Canon and Chapter Member of St Paul’s Cathedral, London.
Doors open from 7pm and the talk will start at 7:30pm, followed by a Q&A.
