Humanimals: an Exhibition of Interactive Sculptures
Humanimals: an Exhibition of Interactive Sculptures is an exhibition like you’ve never seen before!
Pushing the boundaries of creativity and imagination, the exhibition showcases a variety of interactive sculptures by Amanda Wray and Johnny White, contemporary artists based in Derbyshire.
The work in this exhibition is inspired by common experiences and feelings, as well as pivotal moments in life, which affect us all as humans. It aims to show that, underneath it all, we have more in common with each other than we often think.
Following an initial collaboration in 1995, artists Johnny White and Amanda Wray have worked together on many projects. Both have followed their own practice for over 25 years and have shown their artworks widely across Europe.
Johnny and Amanda often use recycled materials and found objects salvaged from tips or sourced from junk shops, Freecycle and eBay to create their work. Employing traditional sculpture techniques such as casting and carving, Amanda uses materials such as polymer-modified plaster, silicone rubber and resin to create detailed forms in a variety of scales, such as the two giant heads for The Gaze and the smaller head for In Two Minds. This is combined with Johnny’s engineering, metalworking and electro-mechanical expertise to make their humorous and thought provoking sculptures.
On display daily until Sunday 1 September, entry to Humanimals: An Exhibition of Interactive Sculptures is included with Annual Membership and Day Pass.
