Big Bang: A Summer Space Day

On Saturday 28 June 2025, prepare for lift-off! Ushaw is blasting into orbit for a one-day cosmic celebration of science, space and summer fun like no other. Whether you’re a mini astronaut, seasoned stargazer, or just curious about the cosmos – this is your launchpad to adventure.

From 10am – 4pm, Out-of-this-World Activities Include:

🌕 The NASA Zone
Step inside an interactive NASA Space Grant experience and discover how humans are heading back to the Moon – and beyond!

👨‍🚀 Astronaut Training Camp 
Course of basic, space themed obstacles led by an astronaut instructor (actor) with the help of a friendly alien.

🌌 Planetarium Shows
Lie back and take a guided tour of the stars inside our inflatable dome.

👗 Space Costume Contest
Dress to impress – aliens, astronauts, galaxies and glitter welcome. Prizes up for grabs!

🎯 Summer Fair Games – with a Galactic Twist
Classic games get a cosmic upgrade. Ever tried space ring toss?

🔭 Kielder Observatory
Join the Kielder Observatory astronomers and have a go at solar observing.

🚌 Moon Palace
See the stunning artwork and captivating cosmic observatory on board a converted school bus.

🏃‍♀️ Bungee Run
Can you defy gravity? Or will it pull you back? Strap in and launch yourself down our interplanetary bungee run!

🧠 Explore the Cosmos in VR
Strap in for a 360° virtual journey through space and time.

🧬 Immersive Installations
Step inside imaginative, interactive worlds inspired by the mysteries of space.
