Advent Service

Advent is a wonderful season, in which we look forward to the joys of Christmas.  Ushaw’s Advent Service, on Saturday 5 December at 6pm, is an ideal opportunity to pause before the preparations for Christmas begin, and to enjoy readings and music on an Advent theme.

Our service blends scripture readings, prayers and beautiful choral music with well-known Advent hymns, and takes us through the themes of watching, witnessing, and announcing the Good News of Christ’s coming. 

The music for the Advent Service is provided by the Hexham & Newcastle Diocesan Choir, with special contributions from the Diocese of Hexham & Newcastle Children’s Choir, which brings together children from ten different primary schools. 

This promises to be an evening to remember, and a welcome addition to Ushaw’s calendar for December.
