Denis Fox: The Battle of Britain in North-East England

An exhibition of oil and acrylic paintings by distinguished Durham artist Denis Harry Fox to mark the 85th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain.

Born in Seaham in 1944, Denis studied at Bede College Durham University and later at Newcastle University. He retired from teaching art at Emmanuel College, Gateshead in 2011.

His exhibition also consists of photographic images of RAF pilots and information regarding the great air battle which took place above the coast of Northumberland, Durham and South Yorkshire.

Denis carried out extensive research in order to create this body of work and he would like to acknowledge the support given to him by those families whose relatives were involved in this famous air battle.

Over the last five years his exhibitions have been seen by many people from home and abroad at venues such as Bamburgh Castle, Hexham Abbey, St Mary’s Heritage Centre on Gateshead Quays, Durham Cathedral, Durham Town Hall, Northallerton Town Hall, Kirkleatham Museum in North Yorkshire, Ripon Cathedral and Beverley Minster.

This exhibition is dedicated to the men and women who answered the call when the nation was under threat, we will remember them.
