Variety is the Spice of Life by Meryl Matheison
This exhibition is a retrospective of some of the work that Meryl has made over the past 50 years.
She gained an honours degree in Fine Art at Northumbria University followed by an Art Teacher’s Certificate at Middlesex University in London. Following this, Meryl worked as a designer for Sacha Shoes in Oxford Street, London and taught in schools in London and the North East. She then taught art and design to groups of adults and children in the communities of Hartlepool, Stockton and County Durham.
A self-confessed hoarder, Meryl’s art studio at Ushaw contains numerous paintings, photographs, prints and sculptures. She is a member of the East Durham Artists’ Network (EDAN), a group of creatives based in Seaham, County Durham and has been active in the Interface Arts group for several years. She shows her work in numerous
galleries across the north east.
This exhibition covers some of the different styles and materials Meryl uses and she hopes that you enjoy viewing her work.
