Ushaw has been awarded the Sandford Award, which is the quality mark for heritage learning and validation for heritage sites and services that offer a formal learning programme.
The award highlights organisations that support the relevant curriculum across the home countries. Recognition is also given to informal learning such as family programmes and self-guided provision.

Hundreds of heritage sites have received the Sandford Award since they were first made in 1978. Including museums and galleries, castles, churches, and historic houses. Marking a proud achievement for the team here at Ushaw.
Megan Jones, Learning and Engagement Officer (Formal Education) said “We are incredibly proud that we have been recognised for the high quality of the education experiences we offer at Ushaw to learners of all ages. We are looking forward to building more relationships with schools and learning groups, and welcoming even more people to experience everything we have to offer.“
Added to the collection and jaw-droppingly magnificent buildings is a committed management team working with capability, pride, and energy creating engaging workshops with learning and creativity at their core. Ushaw is a unique gem of a cultural attraction, indeed Experience beyond belief.
