Young Archaeologists
Join us at Ushaw, as we launch our brand new Young Archaeologists sessions. After our successful taster sessions a few weeks ago, we are delighted to launch a regular programme of activity for budding archaeologists in fun, hands on and inspiring sessions.
Over the next few months, young people will get to take part in a range of different activities including:
- Understanding church buildings – Looking at the ornate decoration outside and inside
- Practical Archaeological Skills – Tools and how to identify and use them safely
- Ancient Civilisations – life before and after the Romans
- Artefacts and Eco facts – Material and plant remains
- Excavation Techniques – Test pits to large-scale archaeological sites
- Ancient Writing – from cave painting to the printing press
- Preservation and Conservation – Designing our own museums
