Ushaw Library Tour
Join our Librarian for an exclusive tour behind the scenes in Ushaw’s stunning Big Library in a fantastic opportunity to discover part of Ushaw not normally open to the public.
During the visit you’ll have the chance to see the magnificent Big Library, designed by Joseph Hansom and look at some of the rare and unusual books within the library. These include illuminated manuscripts and beautifully decorated books on botany and history as well as volumes that are the only known copy in the world.
April’s Themed Talk
Over the last 200 years, Ushaw excelled in the teaching of physical and natural sciences. On Friday 21 April, join Ushaw’s librarian to view some of our material which illustrates this tradition including early works by Charles Darwin, Isaac Newton and Galileo, and beautifully illustrated works on the natural world.
Library Tours are confirmed for the following dates:

Ticket prices are:

The Library is not easily accessible, with lots of stairs, and the visit may involve standing or sitting for long periods. We can, however, provide an accessible library talk with viewing of a selection of books and archives – please register your interest by contacting meet@ushaw.org
