Summer Activities for Kids
Daily, 11am – 4pm included with admission:
The Magic of Masks & Puppets – our brand new exhibition, a display of 150 masks and puppets from every era and culture. Young ones can become a Puppet Master and have a play in our vintage puppet theatre!
Train Toy Takeover – back by popular demand, with heaps of track and trains for your young engineers to construct and play to their hearts content (Excluding Thursday mornings)
Summer Indoor Bunny Trail – Our Bunnies are getting ready for their summer holidays, can you find the bunnies that have something ready to pack into their luggage.
Design a Mask competition – Design your own mask in Welby’s Café, with the winning entry receiving their own mask, crochet knitted to their design.
Outdoor Games & Activities – Football goals, Hula Hooping, Badminton, Space Hoppers and much more on the Bounds field.
Woodland Playpark – New for this Summer, explore our Woodland Playpark next to the Bounds field.
Interactive Digital Trail – Bring our hidden treasures to life and see them appear before you in our augmented reality trail. Download the FREE app here and get discovering!

£1 Movie Club | Wed 23 August, Film starts at 11am
Kick back, relax and enjoy a family movie in our stunning Victorian Theatre. After the movie, head to Welby’s Café where you can grab some lunch and get hands-on with some craft making inspired by The Magic of Masks & Puppets. Pre booking required here.
Summer Stitching | Fridays from 28 July – 25 August, 1:30pm – 3pm
Join members of a local independent stitching group, and stitch your own summer-themed creation. All materials and tuition provided. Included Annual Pass or Day Pass, pre-booking required here.
Summer Fun & Food | Various Dates, 10am – 12pm
As part of the County-wide ‘Fun and Food’ programme, Ushaw will be providing FREE holiday fun and healthy food for children (aged 5-11) in the local community. Pre-booking required here.
