Consett in Focus
Consett in Focus is a small group of amateur photographers based in Consett, County Durham. All of the members have close connections with the Consett area, having lived and worked there all their lives or for many years.
The group has completed a number of documentary projects, based on the local community. Starting with the effects of Covid in 2021, then Arts and Culture the following year, Consett at Play (2023) and Work and Trades in 2024. They are currently working on a project called Sons and Daughters of Leadgate.
The images in the exhibition are a selection from our Work and Trades project.
Club members aim to show how the people of the local community have dealt with difficult circumstances with humour and resilience, and how the cultural and artistic life, present in the past, has continued into the present day.
